What is an Amazon Simple Pay Marketplace?
Amazon Simple Pay Marketplace button extends the capability of Amazon Simple Pay Standard to do more than just accept payments. By using Amazon Simple Pay Marketplace, application developers, ecommerce solution providers, and shopping cart providers can enable payments between buyers and sellers.

Marketplace developers can view these transactions in their account activity page on the Amazon Payments website. They can refund and settle these transactions through Amazon Simple Pay APIs. Marketplace developers also can chose to be notified of the transaction status through IPN.

By using Amazon Simple Pay Marketplace, developers can charge sellers a Marketplace Fee for using a website or application. The fee can either be fixed (for example, 0.20 USD), variable (for example, 4%) or a combination (for example, 4% + 0.20 USD).

How do Amazon Simple Pay Marketplace Fees work?
Developers specify a fixed fee and variable fee when they create a seller button. Each seller accepts the Marketplace Fees when setting up the seller's account. When the developer makes a transaction to move money through an Amazon Simple Pay Standard button, the corresponding Marketplace Fee is also calculated and moved from the seller's account to the developer’s account.

Note that Marketplace Fees are deducted only after the successful settlement of the original transaction. Also, because credit card settlements can take up to one hour to process, Marketplace Fee transactions might not appear right away in the credit card transaction history.

Can the actual marketplace fee be different from what the seller accepted?
The actual marketplace fee passed as input to the Amazon Simple Pay Standard button can be less than or equal to the fee agreed to by the seller. The fee cannot be greater than the agreed-upon amount.

How can I offer Amazon Simple Pay Marketplace on my site?
To offer an Amazon Simple Pay Marketplace button, follow these basic steps:
  1. Create a button by accessing this URL: https://payments.amazon.com/sdui/sdui/marketplace
  2. Enter the information about your marketplace, and then click the Generate HTML button.
This creates the HTML code needed for your Amazon Simple Pay Subscription button.
